This is an evolving page...he just can't keep his mouth shut!!
To say that Joe Biden is gaffe-prone is to say the sun rises in the east. But what is amazing is how little he pays the price for his gaffes.
If Sarah Palin had said even one of the these gems it would be over for her. But, as with Barack, the media is intent on covering up for the Dems instead of covering them because
they are desparate to get their guy in this time.
Biden on Spreading the Wealth
Barbara West (WFTV Orlando): You may recognize this famous quote: "From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs" That's from Karl Marx. How is Sen. Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?
Biden: Are you joking? Is this a joke?
Barbara West (WFTV Orlando): No.
Biden: Is this a real question?
Barbara West (WFTV Orlando): That's a question.
Biden: He is not spreading the wealth around. We are talking about giving the middle class an opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have.
Here's the full interview:
Hey Joe...Obama told Joe the Plumber "I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
Reporter Barbara West and WFTV are now banned from the Obama campaign for asking the questions that the mainstream media should have been asking for the last two years. Ms. West should get a Pulitzer but that award only goes to liberal journalists.
Biden on Obama's First International Test as President (God help Us)
"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
"He's gonna have to make some really tough - I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen."
"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him....
Iran and Israel?...Russia and the Ukraine?...Russia and Georgia (again)?...N. Korea and Japan? Take your pick.
Hey Joe, we at the Neville Awards are students of history too. Kennedy's first real test was the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba and we saw how well that went. His second test was the Vienna Summit with Khrushchev where Kennedy admitted he got kicked around and Khrushchev saw the "young" president as a weakling. The disastrous summit led directly to the Berlin Wall and the missle crisis in Cuba.
Biden On J-O-B-S
“John’s [McCain] last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S.”
Oops -- jobs is a four letter word Joe -- does the press care as much as the Dan Quayle gaffe?
The 14 VP Debate Lies of Biden
The McCain campaign wasted no time in putting forth the 14 biggest lies of Joe Biden from the VP Debate. Did the media focus on these whoppers...
of course not. They said he won the debate because he had "command of the facts". So as not appear to be piling on Palin they tossed a few back-handed compliments her way.
This is the year when journalistsic standards in the United States truly landed on the ash-heap of history.
At any rate here are all 14 lies as compiled by the McCain campaign:
TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.
AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
TAX INCREASES : Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.
Biden On Barack & 7-11 Stores
Coming on the heels of his 7-11 remark: "You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." he handed the following backhanded compliment to Sen. Barak Obama"
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, I mean, that's a storybook, man."
Biden On Taxes
Joe Biden wrapped Old Glory around Barack Obama's plan to raise taxes on wealthy Americans, saying the rich should be "patriotic" and fork over more cash.
"It's time to be patriotic, time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut," Obama's running mate said on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Biden On the Great Depression
"Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people ... this is how we can fix this," Biden said. "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'look, here's what happened.'"
Biden On Coal
Working the rope line in Maumee, Ohio, the Senator was asked by an environmentalist why he and Mr. Obama support "clean coal." "We're not supporting clean coal," Mr. Biden responded. Then, riffing on China's breakneck construction of new coal plants, he continued, "No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them, over there."
